ResMusica is a daily online publication devoted to classical music and dance
Founded in 1999 by Christophe Le Gall, established in France but international in scope through its team which is active across Europe and North America, primarily francophone but providing international readers with translations of its best articles in its English section, ResMusica aims to promote access to musical knowledge with its two-fold dedication to music and the internet.
ResMusica covers news of performances, concerts, festivals and musical institutions with daily reports and articles, interviews and analysis in all aspects of classical music and dance. Reviews on albums, videos and books are also available. In addition ResMusica is interested in musical productions for children, through its section entitled ResBambini.
Each month ResMusica awards five Clef ResMusica to recognize outstanding publications of albums, videos and books. Since 2009, selected recipients of these Clefs ResMusica recipients have been awarded the Clefs d’Or ResMusica, acknowledging outstanding releases of the year.
Also since 2009, ResMusica has been the French representative to the ICMA Jury, the International Classical Music Awards (formerly MIDEM Classical Awards). The ICMA is the only international award dedicated solely to classical music. Its jury is composed of seventeen members from the international music press. Each year ICMA holds a ceremony and gala concert. ResMusica has been a member of the ICMA bureau since 2012 and its editor, Pierre-Jean Tribot, has held the office of Vice President of ICMA since March 2013.
In 2012, ResMusica began publishing an annual Guide to summer classical music and dance festivals in France and Europe. It’s 2014 Guide is now available online.
Because classical music is an essential part of our lives and a commitment beyond pure aesthetic considerations, ResMusica is in the process of establishing cross-disciplinary partnerships. In 2013, the first example of this collaboration was launched for the Fondation Auschwitz for the purpose of working together to publish bilingual articles in french and english.
With its 13,000 articles freely available, its 1200 reviews published every year, and the work of its team of 40 writers spread across 7 countries, ResMusica is the most active francophone publication on the internet devoted to classical music and dance.
